HOW TO LEAD A MORE VIBRANT SPIRITUAL LIFE

DAY 6

STUDY THE SCRIPTURES
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39)

President Spencer W. Kimball reminded us of the importance of consistent scripture reading when he said, "I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems no divine voice is speaking, if I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns.

Read the scriptures
Study the scriptures
Ponder the scriptures
Mark your scriptures

We study the scriptures so that we have a clear and perfect understanding of the nature of God. Without the scriptures we would stumble.

The scriptures are an unfailing guide, a reservoir of spiritual water.

The scriptures are revelations of God and the standards by which we must live our lives.

Scriptures provide vicarious experiences.

Scriptures illustrate good and evil.

The scriptures are letters from our Heavenly Father.

The scriptures are for the salvation of the Lords children.

We must measure every decision by the scriptures and the prophets.

We need confidence in the strengths and truths of the scriptures, confidence that our Heavenly father is really speaking to us through the scriptures, and confidence we can tour to the scriptures and find answers to our problems and prayers.

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:17)

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (John 5:30)
