Today I rode my bicycle down to the store to pick up some strawberry jam for some fresh bread I had just baked. I parked my bike near an outside table where some girls were selling stuffed dolls for a local charity. As I was talking to them a lady came over to me and asked “Did you drop this when you pulled you lock from your bag”? I looked down and indeed it was something that I had dropped. I thanked her; she smiled and went along her way. Later as I was going through the check stand I noticed someone’s bank card was lying on the counter. I called the clerks attention to it, but the owner had already left the store and the clerk could not remember what she looked like. “The office will call her later” she exclaimed.
I picked up my groceries and headed out the door. As I approached the girls selling the teddy Bears I asked them if they had seen the last person to come out of the store. They motioned to a lady just opening her car door and said that might be her. I ran over and asked her if she had left her bank card at the checkout stand. Her face went pale and she ran back into the store. Sure enough she was the one and as she came out from the store she was beaming from ear to ear, holding her bank card up for me to see.
“Turn-about” is fair play I always say. I felt so good about the whole thing that I bought one of the stuffed dolls.
We all felt good after that one; all five of us……..plus the bear.
